Autopilot – Classic Drive, Rewired for Control

The Autopilot is my take on one of the most iconic overdrives of all time: the Ibanez TS10. You know it. You’ve heard it on records whether you realized it or not. And yeah, there’s a reason it stuck around this long.

At its core, the Autopilot is a faithful TS10-style overdrive built around a socketed JRC4558 and original 1S1588 clipping diodes for the feel, response, and character that made the original so loved. It delivers that familiar mid-forward push, natural compression, and tight attack that works so well into a clean amp, a dirty amp, or stacked with other drives.

But this isn’t just a straight clone. The Autopilot adds a Bass control that expands the range of what this circuit can do without losing its roots. At minimum, the Bass control is the original TS10 voicing. As you turn it up, more 100Hz is added back into the signal, filling out the low end and giving the pedal a bigger, fuller response. Whether you want the classic tight Tube Screamer-style push or a thicker, weightier overdrive that hits harder, the Bass control lets you dial it in.

There’s also an internal switch that lets you choose between standard overdrive mode and a clean boost mode, giving the Autopilot even more flexibility depending on how you want to use it. Run it as a classic drive, use it to push the front end of an amp, or flip it into boost mode when you want more output and presence with less grit.

The Autopilot gives you that familiar “plug in and go” feel of a great TS10, but with a little more range and a little more authority on tap. Vintage-inspired where it counts, more versatile where it matters.

Because sometimes you do want to put it on Autopilot. Just make sure it’s the right one.
